Juliano Froehner

Juliano is a social entrepreneur and business developer with nearly 20 years of experience in the sector.

He has been involved in the creation of a number of start-ups, including TNH Health, a company that makes mass, preventive medicine cheaply available via chatbots. Juliano’s social entrepreneurship technology, SMS bebê, which supports brain development throughout pregnancy and early childhood, has garnered a number of prestigious awards, including the Google Impact Challenge, and the Grand Challenge Canada/Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Juliano has worked at the Harvard University JFK School of Government, Center for International Development, and was an expert appointed by the BIO – Biotechnology Industry Organization to the 2007 World Health Organization General Assembly, Geneva.

Professionally, the Chevening experience showed me that I could aim higher, and reach far beyond my original plans.

What made you apply for a Chevening Award?

Chevening caught my attention for being a very solid, objective, welcoming, and well-structured programme, which aimed at cultivating an inter-cultural relationship beyond education.

I fell in love with the University of Warwick’s International Economic Law programme for its engaging syllabus and for its contemporary, forward-thinking, and edgy features.

What is the most important thing you learned during your experience?

During my time in the UK, I learned that it is very important to hold on to one’s values, but at the same time to be prepared and flexible for oncoming changes, in technology and society. I was also reminded that the world is a beautiful and colourful place, full of inspiring people and brilliant minds; I was thankful to be a part of it.

On a personal level, I felt that my opinions and mind set were hugely expanded. Professionally, the Chevening experience showed me that I could aim higher, and reach far beyond my original plans, explore new areas, and get out of my comfort zone.

What message would you share with the next generation of Chevening Scholars?

Please enjoy your time in the UK and take advantage of each minute, and every aspect, of the programme. Remember that the Chevening experience is a life-changing gift.
